Vikings, Bean, and the D.I.

Today was a productive day for me. I went to the D.I., the bread store, cleaned out and windexed -?- my car (its become a disaster since Jake's been driving it) and weeded the other half of my garden- the half that was so terrible I called it my forest of weeds and cried just thinking of having to pull them- but it had to be done, and now it is! Plus a load of laundry! And taking care of baby the whole day, of course! I do wish the bread store was closer, its so much cheaper than the grocery store but I just hate driving clear over there unless I'm already out that way, such as at the D.I. Speaking of, here are my finds, totaling $10:

New shirt for husband. It really is SO HARD to find shirts that he fits into. He just needs to lose enough weight to fit into at least XXL or better yet XL! Anyway after looking through a ton of racks I finally found a not hideous 3XL shirt. I think Jake looks nice in button ups. :)
And for my closet lighthouse obsession... jk I just needed a cheap frame for a project I hope to finish soon! Its one I started 6 years ago!! But that's another post...
And 3 cute vases... not sure exactly what I'm going to do with them, but I got a few ideas floating around.

On a much more exiting note: MY SISTER IS ON HER WAY RIGHT NOW!!!!! They're driving thru the night and should be here by noon-ish! Okay technically I saw her less than 5 months ago... but that is still too long ago! And we haven't seen Josh since New Years. He is bringing his computer so its gonna be LAN central downstairs again. Jake is thrilled. Boys and their games... wait I play games with Bean too. There is no hope for Baby E, he will be a geeky gamer. Its in his genes from both sides. Hmm I wonder if me playing computer games was one of the things that first made Jake like me? I'll have to ask him.

Also, been thinking Halloween (its my favorite so I start a few months early) and costumes this year, probably gonna go with...

VIKINGS!

I know, you're jealous and wish YOU had thought of that first. I don't wanna give too much away... but it's gonna be pretty epic. Most babies dress up like adorable monkeys or bumble bees something that makes you go AWWW! but I think making people say "That is one awesome warrior baby!" will be a little more gratifying.

Well I have to say I'm proud of my blogging this month! Already 4 posts, that's more than my whole 2010! I'm on a roll, hopefully one I can keep up! Until next time...

26th Birthday

Well my 26th birthday has come and gone. This means I'm on the downward slope towards 50... that's really weird to think about. Since my birthday fell on a Thursday and Jake had to work we didn't do anything really fun that day. Went to lunch together is pretty much it and my parents took me out to Chinese that evening while Jake slept. Anyway the final Harry Potter movie came out the day after my birthday and because I love HP dearly, we of course went that afternoon. We being Jake, my parents, Season, both grandmas, and myself. Also because I'm crazy, I had to wear my HP garb! The shirt I made the night before. It's the symbol of the Deathly Hallows, then one arm has "HP" in the lightning bolt style of the title, and the other arm says 7-15-11. Then I wore my scarf I got a few years ago when I was Hermione for Halloween, and I wore my Hogwarts House bracelets. I LOVED the movie and it totally made me cry, just like I did when I read the book. Then later that night we had our friends over for a party and fire. I love S'mores! But I didn't get any pictures of that :( Overall it was a good birthday!

And since I can't NOT post anything about our baby boy here is some pics of him :)

He absolutely LOVES his Cookie Monster!

He also LOVES to play with/eat his feet!

Helping mom with some laundry... He sure looks chubby in this one!

And he always wants to drink what Mommy has, so I give him the empty can to pretend with...

Here is one last one. I thought this was a cute "Me & Daddy" pic.

Evan Eating Rice Cereal

So I decided it was time to try giving Evan some rice cereal. I've had it for a while just sitting in my cupboard but didn't feel ready to try it til yesterday. Thankfully, he really seemed to like it. I mean it is normal for them to spit out food and though he did do that, he ended up eating almost all of it eventually! Of course I didn't make a ton as I wasn't sure how he'd do. Anyway, here is some pictures of the event. He already wants to hold the spoon to feed himself! I tried uploading a video I took but it didn't work :( Maybe I'll figure it out eventually.

Housewife Failure

Hello again, here's the latest and greatest in our world. I changed a few things on the blog, I went ahead and added Jake and Evan to my header, even though neither one will be posting or reading this blog, they are still subjects of most the posts so I decided they can be included.

I'm LOVING my time home with Evan. He is getting so big now and heavy! He is one solid little baby. He loves playing with his feet and has just within the past few days figured out how to stick out his tongue. Still trying to learn rolling over. He is getting pretty good at sitting on his own for a few seconds before he either slumps forward or rolls off to a side. He has one tooth on the bottom. It just cut so I want to wait til its sh
owing more before I get a picture of it, but here is a pretty recent one.

The job hunt still goes on for me, which brings m
e to my subject today. I was at the unemployment office enrolling in a program and the guy helping me asked "What are your long term career goals?" to which I replied "I don't want a long term career, I eventually want to be able to stay home and raise my family." So since I am getting that short opportunity right now, I should be giving it my all, enjoying it while I can, right? Well I'm not.
I don't clean as often as I should, I rarely cook, the laundry piles are all too big. I have a lot of rationalizations for these. Back when I first got married, it was I work full time and get home at 9 PM, I don't know about you, but you really don't want to do much cleaning after 9pm and we were living at my in-laws so we didn't really have much to clean but our room and bathroom. Plus at that time Jake was working nights and would usually get home around 11pm, so I was off the hook as far as dinner went.
But now with no job, I have the time to do all those things, plus the fact that I am in my own house now. Of course I could say the baby is now taking up all that time. Which he, of course, does take up a lot of time, but not the whole day.
Jake really likes when I make him dinner (at 3pm) so he doesn't have to go to bed on an empty stomach. I guess I'm just not in the habit of having to cook every day so its not something I'm very good at but I'm going to start to try harder to meal plan.
Another reason I think I don't get much done is when Jake goes to bed, from 4pm to midnight, I take that time to just hang out in the nursery with Evan. We have Jake's laptop in there so I'll Facebook or we watch shows online or play little baby games (peek-a-boo, patty cake). Then once Jake gets up we move into our room and Evan sleeps next to me on the big bed-- I found its so much easier than having him in the other room or even in the bassinet. Then we stay in bed til Jake comes home.
So really, I have 5 hours to do stuff when Jake is home and able to help watch baby. 5 hours!! I could do so much more than I am.
I'm not even being too hard on myself, not like I do absolutely NOTHING all day and I don't expect my house to be spotless all the time. I just feel like I can be BETTER at being a stay at home mom and wife. So I made a list (cause when I write stuff down it has 80% better chance of actually happening) of chores for different days of the week. I think if I can at least do one chore every day plus make Jake dinner I'll start feeling more accomplished and maybe my laundry piles will get smaller ;) and Jake will be glad he has me for a wife!
Of course he never says anything about me being a bad wife, but he could care less how often the floor gets vacuumed or if his shirts are hung up. This is a guy who uses a sock to clean up something he spilled on the floor because its closer than getting a paper towel... sigh.
Anyway, just a little rant of self motivation for me to try harder! :) Until next time...
